The Reformer Room
Reformer Pilates is part of the original Pilates system, using the beautifully designed apparatus created by Joseph Pilates. It may look a little complicated at first, but the Reformer is simply a clever, supportive piece of equipment that uses springs and straps to provide resistance and assistance as you move.
The Reformer allows you to work the whole body with control and precision, building strength, stability, mobility and coordination. You’ll move through a variety of positions - lying, seated, kneeling and sometimes standing - with the springs adjusted to suit your body and what you need from the session.
There’s something truly wonderful about working with the springs - the gentle resistance gives you something to move into, while the carriage and straps can help you find a deeper, more satisfying stretch and a real sense of length through the body. It’s one of the things I love most about Reformer Pilates: you can feel stronger, more open and more connected to your body all at once. And because the exercises can be adapted, it’s suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience. My aim is always to help you understand your body, move well and build strength with greater ease, confidence and control.
If you've never been on a Reformer before, you'll need to complete a 4-week Beginner Course which will introduce you to the apparatus safely and guide you through the fundamentals. Once completed you will be able to book with confidence any class on the schedule. We will guide you and make sure you're working at the correct level to suit your needs.
Foundation classes will then build on what you have learned during the Beginners Course. You’ll move through Pilates sequences that build strength, improve alignment, and deepen mind-body connection, all at a thoughtful, steady pace. Expect clear cues and a focus on quality over intensity. You are welcome to join these classes if you have learned how to use the Reformer elsewhere.
Intermediate classes are for those with more experience. Expect to be challenged as you move with purpose (and sometimes tempo) to keep your body guessing. We will blend dynamic sequences, core work, mobility and strength, layering up to advanced for those who want it and modifying where necessary to accommodate injuries or limitations.
